Calling all comedy and Scary Movie fans! Get ready to rejoice because Regina Hall and Anna Faris are officially returning to reprise their iconic roles as Brenda Meeks and Cindy Campbell in the upcoming Scary Movie reboot! This news has us absolutely thrilled!

In a statement to Deadline, Hall and Faris shared their excitement: "We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen [Wayans], Shawn [Wayans] and Marlon [Wayans]—three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again!)" Their enthusiasm is infectious, and we can't wait to see what hilarious situations Brenda and Cindy will find themselves in this time around.

Marlon Wayans himself confirmed the fantastic news with an Instagram post, teasing the return of these beloved characters. The internet is buzzing with anticipation for this revival!

Mark your calendars! The new Scary Movie installment, the sixth in the franchise, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026. Get ready for a wild ride filled with hilarious parodies and over-the-top antics.

Did you know the original Scary Movie, released in 2000, grossed a whopping $278 million against a budget of only $19 million? It was a massive success, becoming one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror comedies ever. The entire franchise has earned nearly $900 million! That's a lot of laughs!

This 2026 reboot marks the first time in 18 years that the Wayans Brothers, Keenen, Marlon and Shawn, will be working together on a project. They're writing and producing, alongside Rick Alvarez, and Michael Tiddes (known for his work with the brothers on White Chicks) will be directing. We can only imagine the creative genius they'll bring to this film!

Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Lowey, and Thomas Zadra from Miramax are on board as executive producers. While we know Hall and Faris are back, other cast members are still under wraps. Who else would you like to see join the cast?

For those unfamiliar, the Scary Movie films are known for their clever parodies of popular horror movies and TV shows. The original took aim at Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer. One of the funniest aspects is how characters often return, despite seemingly dying in previous movies. The franchise regularly reprises the same cast of characters, no matter how many times they’ve died in past plot lines.

Interestingly, the Wayans Brothers were only involved in the first two Scary Movie films. Scary Movie 5, the most recent installment, was the only one without Regina Hall and Anna Faris and also the lowest-grossing of the series. Perhaps their absence was felt by fans!

2025 has proven to be a fantastic year for horror, with films like Sinners and 28 Years Later dominating the box office. Legacy horror movies, like I Know What You Did Last Summer, have also seen successful reboots. This surge in horror is sure to provide plenty of material for the Wayans Brothers to lampoon in the new Scary Movie.

What are you hoping to see parodied in the new Scary Movie reboot? Let us know in the comments below!
