Trump's Pursuit of Prestige: Will He Snag a Nobel Peace Prize and an Emmy?

It seems the presidency has changed Donald Trump in some interesting ways. While he once lamented not receiving an Emmy, his sights are now set on a much grander prize: the Nobel Peace Prize. This week, we've seen potential moves suggesting he's aiming for both accolades.
The buzz is that Trump's planning includes potentially hosting Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which some believe could boost his chances for a Nobel. And then, there's the Kennedy Center Honors, which he's slated to host in December, possibly eyeing an Emmy win.
Geraldo Rivera even suggested that just trying for peace, regardless of the outcome, should be enough to warrant a Nobel. "If you have a president of the United States trying so hard... for peace, even if he’s not totally successful, just the effort is so, it’s so overt, it’s so public, it’s so aggressive. You know, he deserves recognition at least for that," Rivera said.

And it’s not just Rivera. Trump has reportedly garnered support from leaders across the globe, including those from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Gabon. Benjamin Netanyahu has also expressed his support.
While these endorsements could give him an edge, the competition is fierce. Hundreds of individuals and organizations are vying for the prize, which also includes a substantial monetary award. However, it's unlikely the money is a major motivator for Trump, especially considering his past comments about Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize win in 2009.
This year's nominations include the January 6th Committee, recognized for their defense of democratic principles. Elon Musk was also nominated for his support of free speech.
Trump has previously expressed that he believes he is long overdue for the Nobel Peace Prize, even suggesting that if his name were Obama, he would have received it instantly.
He's even reportedly contacted Norwegian officials to casually bring up the topic of the Nobel Peace Prize, alongside discussions about tariffs. Talk about a multi-tasker!

If the Nobel doesn't pan out, there's always the Emmy. While it doesn't come with a cash prize, it would certainly be a shiny addition to his collection of trophies.
Trump has publicly expressed his desire for an Emmy for years. Remember during the 2016 presidential debate when Hillary Clinton pointed out his complaints about the Emmys being rigged after The Apprentice didn't win?
Hosting the Kennedy Center Honors provides him with a new opportunity to snag that elusive Emmy. The annual special has a history of nominations and wins, particularly in technical and creative categories.
It will be interesting to see if Trump's version of the Kennedy Center Honors can attract the same level of talent and recognition. The show will definitely receive a promotional boost from Trump himself, potentially drawing in a larger and more diverse audience, and maybe even improving ratings.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced on October 10, and the Kennedy Center Honors will air on Paramount+ on December 7, 2025. Could this be Trump's year for recognition? Only time will tell!
