Tragic Incident in Cascais: American Tourist Killed in Attack

According to reports, the incident occurred early Wednesday morning. A 34-year-old American man was walking back to his hotel at around 3 AM when he was approached by three individuals. What started as a verbal altercation escalated into a violent attack.
The man reportedly called his 35-year-old friend for assistance. Tragically, when the friend arrived, one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed both men. The 34-year-old sustained serious injuries to his face and chest and was rushed to a local hospital. His friend, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Thankfully, the surviving victim is now reportedly recovering and is no longer in critical condition.
Local authorities have apprehended all three suspects involved in the attack. A 23-year-old Portuguese man, who allegedly worked at a nearby bar and had no prior criminal record, has been charged with homicide. The other two suspects may face assault charges.
While initial reports suggested a possible robbery attempt, police have ruled out robbery, terrorism, and hate crime as motives. Correio de Manhã, a Portuguese news site, quoted authorities as saying the incident stemmed from an altercation that escalated into physical violence.
