But lately, Rachael has been spending more time in her Tuscan villa, and she's now opening up about why she prefers the Italian lifestyle over her life in the U.S.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Rachael, 57, shared that her decision to spend more time in Italy is driven by a desire for a quieter, more relaxed environment. One of the biggest factors? Her beloved dog, Bella. "It’s quiet. The dog is much happier. She hates New York City," Rachael explained. "Bella is not a New Yorker at all. So, for the dog’s sake, I spend as much time [in Italy] as I can."
It sounds like Bella is living the dream! Rachael describes their Italian property as an idyllic retreat: "She has a swimming pool and 66 hectares to run around on, and everything is very quiet, and the air is very fresh, and we have huge gardens and a vineyard and olive trees, and I just prefer that life."
Imagine waking up to that every day! It's easy to see the appeal of escaping the hustle and bustle for a more peaceful existence.
From War Zone to Paradise: Building a Tuscan Home
Rachael and her husband, John Cusimano, purchased their Tuscan villa in 2021 after the devastating loss of their New York home in a fire in 2020. The property was initially in rough shape, with John describing it as a "war zone."
However, Rachael saw the potential. As she wrote in her magazine, Rachael Ray In Season, she fell in love with the land and the views, realizing that they could build something truly special and uniquely theirs. What an inspiring way to turn a difficult situation into something beautiful!
